Plug, Sheffield. August 4th.
With the legendary Dave Benson Phillips as master of ceremonies!
We are proud to present WANTON’s second outing, and boy is it a soulfully strange sonata on offer on this fine August 4th. We are manically proud to present to you Trigger Thumb, Grace Kim, and Lugs. From funky bass and dancing drums, to mathematical classical and rock music most bombastic.
Somewhere between smooth and sharp, like peanut butter with raw uncut diamonds in it, Trigger Thumb bring a soaring leviathan to crash-landing into your ear canals. Channelling Primus by way of Muse, these guys do not muck about. They’ve got mathematical neo-classical superautobiographical beef – as evident from the grieving death-eagle that is the fine song “Your call is important to us” (Available for download) These guys get right in your ear like a 2p coin pinged from a rubber band – if the 2p coin were the size of a manhole cover and the rubber band went across the Moor. Blammo.
Grace Kim delivers Jazz-bar vocals with everything from soul, funk, deep and chill electronica regions. You know the ones, south of Tinsley. I digress – Grace Kim is haunting and fantastic. You will likely stop and sway, and dance in the darkness to the ringing of quiet bells and deep bass. Funky, funky rhythms expel the listener to the deep waves of an ocean of soul. Get thee a listen and be swept away with your rum & coke etc.
Psychobilly metal grunge multi-tempo power pop, non-stop. Whenever things are sounding sweet there’s a bass-driven lightning fuzz-storm round the corner ready to kick and scream right back to a solid, gleaming metallic core. Their steel robot hearts can love, and they love to rock.
